Cancel pending memberships

As chapter leader, you can cancel a pending membership awaiting your approval.

Warning

A canceled membership will be deleted and no longer exist for the selected membership year.

To disapprove or cancel a membership, the membership must not be past your authorization level. For example, a local chapter leader can change a membership type if the membership has not been approved at the state level (i.e., submission level status is either Local or State). A state leader can disapprove or cancel a membership if the membership has not been approved at the national level (i.e., submission level status is either Local, State or National). Once a membership has been nationally approved, only national FFA staff can disapprove or cancel a membership due to potential financial implications.

Memberships with a local submission level status can be canceled from either the Approve Pending Memberships or Manage Memberships sections. Memberships awaiting state or national approval can only be canceled or disapproved from the Manage Memberships section.

You will begin in the roster system under Approve Pending Memberships.

Use Search to find the membership(s) to cancel.

  1. Select Student or Alumni – The default is Student unless you only have Alumni responsibilities
  2. Verify the current Membership Year is selected– The default is the current year
  3. Verify your Chapter is selected – Your chapter should be the default unless you manage multiple chapters
  4. Click Search

If your search does not produce the desired results, change your search filters to narrow or expand your search parameters. Example: Search by Roster Method.

With the membership(s) identified, you can now cancel the pending membership(s).

Cancel a single membership:
  1. Click for a specific membership
  2. Click OK to approve the action

Watch for a green success message at the top of the screen.

Cancel multiple memberships:
  1. Select Membership(s) to cancel by one of the following methods:
    • Select checkboxes to cancel one or more memberships
    • Click the top-left checkbox to cancel all memberships on the current page
    • Choose Select all ## memberships to cancel all memberships on all pages – This option only appears when there are more than 20 memberships
  2. Click Cancel Membership(s)
  3. Click OK to approve the action

Watch for a green success message at the top of the screen.
