The Basics: Jacket Style and Fit
Selecting a well-fitting jacket is important. We want everyone wearing the blue jacket to feel comfortable and confidently represent FFA.
Both standard and tailored fit options are available.
Standard jackets are designed for members with an average height and build, while tailored jackets are customized based on the measurements you provide for a more precise fit. Both styles feature a classic, structured, waist-length jacket cut rather than the shape of a traditional suit jacket.

Fitting Guides
These fitting guides are designed for standard jackets and provide both the actual body measurements and the finished jacket measurements for each size, for both male and female members.
Additional Jacket Measuring Notes
- If your student has an average height and build, simply measure their chest or bust and order the corresponding jacket size. If their measurements do not align with the standard sizing, a tailored jacket option is available and can be customized using the measurements you provide.
- If you are unsure which size to order, take a few additional measurements and compare them to the body measurements listed for each size on the corresponding fitting guide.
- If the measurements do not match a standard size, review the actual jacket measurements provided on the fitting guide. This will help you determine whether the jacket will provide enough room for a comfortable fit or if ordering a larger size would be the better option.
- If measurements are being taken by someone with tailoring or sewing expertise, such as a professional tailor or F.A.C.S. educator, please provide them with the FFA Jacket Measuring Tools and Fitting Guides listed above. The FFA jacket uses a unique measuring process that differs from traditional suit jacket measurements, and these resources will help ensure accurate sizing.
Important Measuring Information
When recording measurements to determine your jacket size, please provide the actual body measurements, and do not add additional inches for growth or comfort.
For standard and tailor jackets, we add the following allowances to the body measurements you provide for comfort, movement, and growth:
- Chest (Male): We add 8 inches to the finished jacket.
- Bust (Female): We add 6 inches to the finished jacket.
- Hem/Hip (Female) & Hem/Seat (Male): We add 3 inches to the finished jacket.
- Neck-to-Waist Length: We add 6 inches for males and 4 inches for females to allow the jacket length to extend properly to the hip area.
- Sleeve Length: We add 1.5 inches.
- Shoulders: No additional allowance is added.
Please follow the instructions and illustrations carefully when taking measurements. Accurate measurements are essential—do not guess. Official FFA jackets cannot be returned, exchanged, or credited due to incorrect sizing.
